Every one of these guides answers the same question for a different job: what actually decides the number. None of them prints a figure, and this page explains why that is a deliberate choice rather than an evasion, then points you at the guide for whatever you are pricing.
Why does this site never quote a price?
Because a price given without seeing the room is a guess, and a from price is the cheapest possible version of the cheapest possible job.
Two kitchens the same size can differ enormously on the amount of cabinetry, the finishes, the worktop and how far the services move. The same is true of a wardrobe, a set of doors or a run of windows. Any figure published without those details is either a floor price designed to get a foot in the door, or a number picked to sound reasonable.
What we do instead is measure, design it in 3D, and give you one complete itemised quote you can compare line by line against anyone else's. That costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
The other half of being straight about it: we are not the cheapest. The work is made to measure and fitted by our own team, and it is priced to that standard. If the cheapest possible version is the goal, we are not the right fit and we will say so early.
Kitchens
The room size matters less than the amount of cabinetry, the finishes and whether the plumbing and electrics move.
Layout changes are the single biggest lever. Keeping the sink, hob and appliances where they are is the largest saving available on any kitchen job. Worktop material is the second, and the spread between laminate and stone is wider than most people expect.

Fitted wardrobes
Cost tracks the linear metres of wardrobe and the interiors, not the size of the bedroom.
A small bedroom with a long run costs more than a large bedroom with a short one. Doors are the second lever, and the interiors, the drawers, pull outs and runners, are where a lot of the cost quietly sits.

Windows
Frame material, glazing specification, the number of openers and the quality of the fit.
Most window complaints are fitting complaints rather than product complaints, so what is included in the install matters as much as the unit. Making good inside and out should be part of the job, not an extra.

Internal doors
The door is often the smallest part. Hanging, ironmongery, frames and making good are the rest.
A quote that looks cheap per door is usually quoting supply only. Trimming to out of square openings, new handles and hinges, adjusting frames and taking the old doors away are all real work and all belong on the quote.

Media walls, under stairs storage, islands, panelling and alcove units are priced on how much there is, how awkward the space is, and what goes inside.

How to compare any two quotes
Ask both for an itemised breakdown, then compare line by line rather than comparing totals.
Two quotes thousands apart are almost never quoting the same thing. The gap is usually in what is included rather than in the headline product, and a single bottom line figure hides all of it.
The questions that separate them quickly: what exactly is included in fitting, what is the carcass or core made of, what hardware is specified, who takes the old one away, and what happens if something is wrong in a year. A quote that cannot answer those quickly is worth being careful with.
