How much do fitted wardrobes cost?
Fitted wardrobes are priced individually after a free design visit, because the figure depends on the width of the run, sliding or hinged doors, the finish and the internal fit-out. You get an itemised quote with your 3D design within 2 working days, with no obligation. Every wardrobe we make is premium and made to the highest spec, so it is not a budget purchase.

Sliding and hinged fitted wardrobes: what can our own team build and fit?
- Fitted wardrobes wall to wall Built to the actual width and height of your room, so there is no filler panel at one end and no dead space above the doors.
- Walk in wardrobes and dressing rooms Open runs of hanging, shelving and drawers where there is a room or a corner to give over to it. Our walk in wardrobe guide covers how much space you need and which layouts fit.
- Sliding or hinged doors Sliding where the bedroom is tight, hinged where you want the full opening. We talk through which suits the room at the visit.
- The inside, planned properly Hanging rails, shelving, drawers and shoe storage laid out for what you actually own, rather than one rail across the whole thing.
- Lit interiors Lighting designed into the wardrobe so you can see what is in it, planned with the layout rather than added afterwards.
- Awkward rooms Sloped ceilings, chimney breasts and box rooms are the ones fitted furniture is actually for. They get measured and designed around.
Is a fitted wardrobe the same as a built in wardrobe?
Yes. Both names mean a wardrobe made for one wall of one room and fixed in place, rather than a freestanding unit.
Fitted wardrobes, built in wardrobes and in built wardrobes all describe the same job, and The Home Upgrade Co. designs and fits all of them across Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow. What is worth knowing is what makes a wardrobe genuinely built in, because some wardrobes sold under either name are really freestanding units pushed against a wall.
- Fixed to the room. It is secured to the walls, floor and ceiling, so it cannot rock or pull away from the wall.
- Floor to ceiling. It runs the full height of the room, so there is no dusty gap on top and the top section becomes storage.
- Scribed to the walls. The side panels are cut to follow walls that are rarely straight or square, instead of leaving a gap or a filler strip at the end.
- Built around the awkward parts. Skirting boards, sloped ceilings, chimney breasts and alcoves are measured and designed around rather than worked around on the day.

Can one contractor do the whole job, not just the wardrobes?
Bedrooms rarely get done on their own. If the doors are being changed, or the windows, or the kitchen is next on the list, all of it is our own work, so it is one team, one set of dates and one quote instead of three trades blaming each other.

Questions people ask us about wardrobes
Is the design visit free for wardrobes too?
Yes. The visit, the measuring and the 3D plans cost you nothing, and there is no obligation to go ahead.
Sliding doors or hinged doors?
It depends on the room. Sliding doors suit a tight bedroom where a hinged door would open into the bed, hinged doors give you the full opening and easier access to the whole interior. We go through it in sliding or hinged wardrobe doors, and we talk it through at the visit.
How is this different to flat pack?
Flat pack comes in fixed widths and heights, so it rarely fills the wall and you end up with filler panels and dead space above. Ours is made to the measurements of your room, including sloped ceilings and chimney breasts. We compared the two in fitted wardrobes vs IKEA in Ireland.
Can you fit out the inside as well?
Yes. Hanging rails, shelving, drawers, shoe racks and lit interiors are all part of the design, and the layout is drawn up before anything is made.
How long does it take?
Roughly twelve weeks from order to delivery in Ireland as a general guide. Your order confirmation carries the schedule we commit to, and we plan the fitting date around it.
